Most of my blog entries are silly. But I am going to take a break from the norm for a minute to get this off my chest, because it really fires me up.

I recently received an email forward. And generally I just delete them w/o reading them, because I don't really give a crap about forwards. But occasionally I make the mistake of opening them.

Yesterday I made the mistake of opening a forward that was so disgusting and racist it made me want to smash something. It was the most racist, ignorant, piece of trash I ever read. It said something about wanting to boycott Tyson Food because at one of their plants in TN more than half of their workers are Muslim. And because they built a prayer room for the Muslim workers and let them exchange their Labor Day holiday with a Muslim holy day.

The email writer was all pissy because no prayer room was built for Christians or Jews. Then it went on to speculate that that many immigrants must be here illegally. And that "Americans" should have their jobs, etc.

I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. I am not Muslim. I am not Christian. I am not any religion. But fuck! Everyone is entitled to their beliefs. And Tyson Food just sounds plain smart to me for accommodating its workers. More employers should be so thoughtful!

No prayer room was built for Christians and Jews because those religions do not REQUIRE that they kneel down and face Mecca every day at certain times to pray.

A lot of jobs let you take off floating holidays and you are required to work on other holidays. Why should it be a big deal that they were given a Muslim holiday off?! I bet the Christian workers have Christmas off and I am sure the Jewish workers have Hanukkah off.

Then there is the whole speculating about them being illegal immigrants that "stole jobs from "Americans". Give me a break. Like the government wouldn't notice THAT many "illegal" Muslim people in one area? Not a chance. With all of the Muslim bashers and irrational fear of so many ignorant people (and the government) since 9/11 there isn't a chance in hell those people aren't here legally.

Since when is immigration a bad thing? This whole country is filled with immigrants. I guarantee you the idiot that wrote that email is a descendant of immigrants. The only people in this country that aren't immigrants are Native Americans. And descendants of slaves. Everyone else (for the most part) is here because they (or their relatives in the past) immigrated here...and let me say, the so-called "founders" of this country weren't here "legally". They came. They saw what they wanted and they took it from the natives through lies and murder.

All of this blind, ignorant Muslim hating shit makes me sick. If people could stop being so narrow minded and maybe take a minute to educate themselves, they would know the Muslim religion is a peaceful religion. As is Christianity and Judaism.

Yes, in all religions there are extremists. But does that make the religion bad or evil? No. It is only the morons that take things to the extremes that are evil. All of the gay bashing that goes on in this country? It is mainly done by Christians. Bombing of abortion clinics? Christians again. And I would bet all the money I have that all or most of the members of the KKK would say they are Christians as well. Are all Christians hateful killers and ignorant racist idiots? No. But their are some evil extremists.

And I bet that piece of shit email was written by someone that fancies himself a "good Christian". I may not believe in God, but I went to church all the time as a kid. And I know that the Christian religion does NOT teach hatred and killing.

I wish idiots like that email writer would take a day and spend it with a Muslim with an open mind. I am sick to death of hearing sheltered, ignorant people bash Muslims. I guarantee you 99% of the people that bash Muslims don't know any personally. These ignorant people need to take a trip and get out of that pathetic small town mentality and learn something about the world and the people in it.
